A Girl and her Scoot
Pre-Ride Prep - HCR VI
| Pre Ride | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3| Day 4 | Post Ride | Back to Bike Page |
The adventure began when I took a motorcycle riding class with my friend Kim. We went to the Harley shop in Corinth, TX and had a great experience. I highly recommend to anyone interested in riding to take some kind of new rider or safety course. American Eagle Harley-Davidson Rider's Edge class was a great way to begin. Thanks to Jim Brett and Orlanda (Hino) Hinojosa for instructing me and getting me started on the right foot, so to speak.
After class, I began my search for the perfect bike - the perfect affordable bike! Richey at Honda-Kawasaki West introduced me to a used 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 that fit like a glove. I don't know what happened, but it was love at first sit. To the surprise of my husband, I soon had the bike at home in the garage. My car now had second status in the driveway.
After I purchased the Vulcan, I started searching for someone to ride with. I met some CMA members from Weatherford, some members of Southern Cruisers, and rode with some other friends who had bikes.
CMA friends in Weatherford:
After searching the internet, I found out about VROC. The DFW area has it's own VROC group.
VROC
is the Vulcan Riders and Owners Club.
For more information, go to http://www.vroc.org
To join DFW VROC, go to Yahoo

The DFW VROC
group has a ride once a year to the Hill Country.
The official page of the Hill Country Ride VI
is at http://home1.gte.net/res0nifi/hcr6/hcr6.html
I also found a yahoo group only
interested in VN750, the specific model of
my bike.

The VROCers are an interesting bunch, to say the least. I followed the email postings and wondered about the various nicknames: Wiliedog, X, Runt, B-Man, B-Girl, Oldman, Slash, Shooter, Trigger, Viper, Goose, Pilgrim, Sweeper, Chickiefly, Wag, Chef, Wrangler, Tricky Dick, Maz, Woo Hoo, Wiredgeorge, Rooster, No Nic, Bear, gYpSy, Woody (he has a small font problem, don't ask), and many more.
I soon discovered the HCR VI was scheduled in the near future and made plans to attend. I purchased saddlebags and a windshield for the scooter and cleared the trip with the hubby.
