April 5, 2003 - There is an established route for this day called the the "long way to Llano", but many chose to take off on their own rides.  Quite a few went to "do the 3's" again.  Since I wanted to experience the official DFW VROC, I decided to ride the "long" route.  I found a few others to ride with and spent more time looking for an appropriate leader, someone who knows the route and wouldn't go screamin' down the road and leave us behind.  The perfect leader is found in Wiredgeorge.  (Sorry I didn't get a picture of him.)  There is another group called The Dark Side that takes this 'long way to Llano" at an extremely fast pace!

This was a fun route.  Very relaxing, no extreme turns like in the "3's" route yesterday.  They also call this the "Sweepers" route because of long sweeping curves.  The last 30 miles of the ride to Llano was very sensual for me.  As it turned out, a butterfly got into my shirt.  Must have blown up through the sleeves of my jacket.  It fluttered around on my back for 30 minutes, tickling me.  What an experience!

I didn't take any pictures until after lunch at Llano, but after eating I demanded that we return to Fredericksburg on highway 2323 so I could get some shots of the beautiful bluebonnets.  They lined the road on both sides like a blue carpet.  I also got brave and started shooting while driving with one hand!  I haven't tried the behind-the-shoulder backward shot yet.

Saturday night was the gathering at Luckenbach for the official HCR VI group picture.  Lots of bikers and tourists were there.  We took pictures and visited.  I was very happy to meet gYpSy.  She is famous in the "750" world.   I got to see her cool bike with lots of mods that she has done herself.
